What we are up to!
Where has the month of December gone?!?! I don’t know, but can say that I have been very busy with my life. Lots of changes on the horizon…. or at least I hope so for my sanity!!
Meanwhile, check out my latest web creation:
And not complete, but soon will be ready for public viewing:

Um, that would be Cosmo NOT me
She arrived safely to me sporting a lovely pink turtleneck with hearts. I must say, it looked rather nice on her! Funny though, within in two seconds of being put in the crate… the nasty Mo re-surfaced!! God I lover her. Now that my running partner is back, I can once again enjoy my road time. Oh, wait… not going to happen for at least a week or so.
Why is that you ask!?!? Well, I won’t be running for at least a week in order to let my left quadriceps recover from an injury I sustained early this morning. More specifically it feels like the injury impacted the rectus femoris. How did that occur? Let’s just say little Coudai was a little spun up about going to dog training and managed to plow into my left leg knocking it back. It would have all been good, but unfortunately it was already strained from a previous workout and this just sent my poor muscle over the edge into the land of crippling injury and TONS of pain. For a brief moment, I thought I was not going to be able remain standing, let alone walk; and the pain was out of town…. almost tossed cookies on that one
Long story short, I did attend training but couldn’t hold the leash. I felt rather unproductive, but what can I do. Had to cancel exercise for tonight, but plan to at least resume some cardio tomorrow if possible. Errr.. these dogs are going to be the death of me.

Huge congrats to Cosmo for earning her Schutzhund 1!!! I had sent Cosmo to NC for surgery on her shoulder (removal of a microchip) and recovery. After a month off of training, I entered Cosmo in a trial. It went well for a 2 year old dog, on a new field, and a decoy she never worked on!

And her protection video can be seen here:
First off, I must say that I have been VERY busy lately and I owe all my friends a HUGE thank you for all their support and help. I am in the process of preparing for some possible big changes in my career. One of the requirements is that I need to be in top physical shape, so I have been working out like a mad man to achieve these goals. After seeing some of my competition the other night, I must say that I left feeling good about where I stand
Keeping my fingers crossed that everything continues to go as planned.
To keep this dog related, training was a blast today. I drove down with Coudai for a day of training. Coudai did a nice track, but was a little hectic. I am not overly concerned because with more repetitions and longer tracks she will calm down. For obedience, we are still working on the basic positions. Yeah, I know; boring stuff… but it is so critical to get it right the first time versus going back and fixing problems. Protection she was showing excellent and fast strikes, but I still would like to see a more committed bite. The bites are full, but she could chomp down a little harder. Butch and I agree that is more than likely due to the fact that we have just started her protection and with more time and maturity she will come around.
So I am sure you are thinking, WTF was so exciting about that?!?! Well, it wasn’t the dog training portion, but the part when I got to put on a bite suit and wrestle with Apollo and Slick
Butch said he has been putting too much control on his dogs and wanted them to have a fun day. So Ron and Mark were doing suit work with Apollo when Butch said he wanted to know if Apollo would bite a girl!!! A quick glance to the peanut gallery left me and one other girl.
Hmmm… Trouble in paradise?!? He wants to know if his dogs will protect him against a raving mad chick?? Well, I was more than willing to oblige his needs
So with some help from Ron, I put the suit on and wandered over to Apollo. Butch was like, “Get her Apollo!!” OMFG, what did a just agree too?? Apollo jumped me and grabbed my arm with a nice full bite and commenced to shaking me around like rag doll. I let out a yelp and then started doing everything I could to remain upright. On lookers were yelling out to give him a fight…. So I attempted to fight back by hitting him with the whip…. it didn’t work out so well. The suit was so bulky and stiff, I struggled with trying to hit him. After a bit of being tossed around, Butch called Apollo off…. except, he didn’t want to give up. He kept shaking me and shaking me and shaking me… until Butch finally had to physically remove him from me!!! Geez, I guess Apollo had a little pent up anger from his stay at my place.
NEXT!!!
Butch stated that he wanted Slick to have a chance at biting me as well. This time around, he wanted an armpit and chest bites. You said what?!?! So Ron had to help set me up in the right position with my arms above my head. Slick grabbed on and I was like OMFG… his beatty little eyes were glaring into my eyes as he hung off my right armpit. So I commenced to trying to hit him with my other arm and he did an awesome re-grip and grabbed my left arm…. and then when I tried to hit him with my other arm, he grabbed my CHEST!!! It was pretty intense and very tiresome, but I seriously would love to do it again. I had a blast and learned a lot from the entire experience!!!

Cosmo earned her Schutzhund 1 today. More information and photos to follow
